Heavy rain since late July 2026 has caused widespread flooding and landslides. Pathanamthitta remains among the worst-hit districts, while Kottayam, Palakkad and Ernakulam continue under alerts. Rescue operations involving fishing boats, helicopters, police, fire services and NDRF teams are ongoing.

Although floodwaters are receding in some areas, fresh heavy rain is expected. Many families have lost food supplies, clean water access and basic medical essentials.
